Welcome to the Global News Link from Maryknoll Lay Missioners. This is the first quarterly news update coordinated by missioners in the field around themes that cut across the nine countries where we serve.
Although we spread out across Asia, Africa and the Americas, we work with common themes and common groups of people. We also commit to actively seeking nonviolence and creative responses to violence in how we live and in all that we do.
Many missioners work to uplift the voices and participate in the social care of women, children, youth, inclusive groups and the elderly. We address nonviolence through prevention, intervention and restoration as well as the urgency of access to justice. These populations endure persistent inequity, exclusion and displacement. By highlighting the diverse ways we do this across our nine different countries, we can amplify the focus on nonviolence and environmental integrity.
Aligning to Maryknoll Lay Missioners’ commitment to nonviolence and environmental justice, we highlight the global urgency of peace in the varied population contexts.
Our first newslink honors International Day of Peace, September 21st. We share stories from Haiti, South Sudan, Cambodia and El Salvador.
